ACTIS
HYBRIS
HYBRIS is a reflective insulation product with a difference, its unique honeycomb structure has been designed with a network of closed cells that trap heat and provide a high thermal performance.
HYBRIS, A NEW GENERATION OF INSULATION
Flexibility
Actis Hybris is flexible and conforms well to irregular spaces, making it suitable for complex roof structures.
Airtightness
Actis Hybris is designed to provide both insulation and airtightness, potentially reducing the need for additional airtight barriers.
Reflective Properties
The reflective foil layers can help reflect radiant heat, which can be beneficial in certain climates.
No Cold Bridging
The flexible nature of Actis Hybris minimizes the risk of thermal bridging.
Hybris is an insulation material that has been designed to work with timber frame or masonry walls as well as pitched roofs and ceiling applications. It is a reflective insulation that uses a honeycomb structure meaning it has a high thermal performance as well as being protected from dust and air movement.
As well as being airtight by its structure, it is also resistant to water vapour to prevent condensation and does not generate any fibres or dust to cause allergies. It is lightweight to work with and it easy to install in the most awkward spots, such as between rafters or floor joists.
Hybris does not compact over time, is lightweight making it easy to carry, transport and store, is flexible and has no irritating fibres - classified A+ for internal air quality, making Hybris quick, easy and comfortable to install. It is CE Marked and has been certified within the LABC Registered Construction Details scheme.
Why Actis Hybris?
One issue you’ll find with insulation is that thermal bridging can occur when there’s an uninsulated gap, often at a junction, where heat can leak. Actis Hybrid products, on the other hand, can squeeze into gaps and bend around corners, meaning that thermal bridging can be eliminated, creating a much more efficient thermal solution.
Another potential problem is that some insulation products can settle over time, which also reduces thermal efficiency. Hybris Insulation, on the other hand, is highly durable thanks to its revolutionary honeycomb structure. This structure means that it retains its shape and will stay efficient for much longer without settling. This also means that it has a very low U-value, meaning it doesn’t let out much heat. With U-value being a key contributor to a product’s FEE rating, this is something that will make sure a build meets efficiency ratings.
Hybris is the only reflective insulation in Europe to achieve Bronze Cradle to Cradle certification for its sustainability credentials. Cradle to Cradle certified is the global standard for products that are safe and responsibly made, having a positive impact on people and the planet.
Assessment is carried out across five sustainability performance categories; reuse of materials, renewable energies and carbon management, social equity, healthy materials & water conservation. Hybris performed well in all categories achieving its Cradle to Cradle certification
It is the second environmental certification it has earned this year, underlining Actis’ commitment to protecting the planet and its determination to lead the way in minimising the negative impact of construction materials manufactured across the continent.
Key achievements highlighted by the certification include Actis’ zero waste policy and Hybris’ 100% recyclability, which contribute to the company’s aim of creating a circular economy.
The accreditation saw the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute-accredited organisation Upcycle examine five criteria covering the end-to-end production process. These included reuse of materials, renewable energies, water use, the health implications of the materials used and social responsibility.
Actis was awarded an overall bronze status, a level very difficult to achieve due to its stringent criteria, with two categories already achieving the higher silver level — reuse of materials and social equity. The fact that all elements are 100% recyclable, combined with its zero-waste production process which sees all off-cuts recovered, crushed and reintroduced into the manufacturing process, enabled it to earn the higher ranking in the materials reuse section.
Praise for the renewable energies and carbon management element was based on several factors, including the low carbon footprint achieved during the manufacturing process.
